Reflecting on the FITA / FIMA Event and My Journey in Krav Maga

Updated: May 22

A Week of Learning and Growth

This past week, I had the privilege of participating in the FITA / FIMA event in Phoenix. It was an incredible gathering featuring some of the most respected figures in the world of Krav Maga, alongside high-level martial artists from around the globe. More than just an event, it was a true meeting of minds and spirits.

I had the honor of giving a seminar on hostage scenarios, an area of training that is very close to my heart, shaped by years of operational experience. During this time, I also had a chance to train, exchange ideas, share pictures, laugh, and learn from some of the most incredible practitioners. They share a similar passion for the art of self-defense.

Above all, I was humbled to receive an award recognizing my outstanding contribution to Krav Maga. This experience marked a significant milestone in my life.

The Significance of Recognition

I’ve received many certificates throughout my life. Since childhood, various pieces of paper have mapped the steps of my long journey—from student to soldier, from instructor to expert. However, this small piece of paper—this award—holds a different meaning for me.

It comes at a time when I’ve finally realized a dream I have cherished for years: to bring Krav Maga back to its essence. This approach is not diluted by ego and not distorted by politics. It is rooted in being real, honest, and effective.

The system of Krav Maga is designed for ordinary people facing real threats in an unpredictable world. It is simple where it must be and brutal when it needs to be. Above all, it should always be grounded in truth.

This award doesn’t mark the end of anything; rather, it is a quiet signpost along my journey.

It serves as a reminder that the road continues, and that my mission remains the same:

  • To teach with purpose.

  • To train with integrity.

  • To remain humble, regardless of recognition.

Krav Maga: More Than Just a Discipline

Krav Maga is not just what I do; it’s who I am. This martial art has been with me since childhood, accompanying me through every challenge and transformation. The recognition I received means more to me now, not because of the title but because of what it represents.

The award carries the weight of three decades of training, complete with mistakes and growth. It signifies my refusal to quit. However, more than anything, it reminds me that we do not walk this path alone.

A Shared Journey

This moment belongs to everyone who has helped shape it. It is dedicated to my students, who provide meaning to every lesson. It is for the instructors and partners who believe in what we are building together. It also extends to the broader Krav Maga community, which dares to return to its roots.

Let’s not forget my family and friends, who stood by me when it wasn’t easy. Their unwavering support has played a crucial role in my journey.

This isn’t just a piece of paper on a wall. It is a symbol of a life lived with purpose and of a legacy still in the making.

Looking Ahead: Gratitude and Future Endeavors

As I reflect on this experience, I feel immense gratitude for the past and excitement for what comes next. The journey in Krav Maga is far from over. It is filled with opportunities to grow, learn, and teach others.

Krav Maga challenges us to push our limits and face our fears. It equips individuals with practical skills that can make a difference in real-life situations. I am committed to sharing this knowledge with new generations, ensuring that Krav Maga stays true to its roots.

In conclusion, I invite everyone interested in self-defense and personal growth to join this community. Together, we can honor the tradition of Krav Maga while embracing the future. The art is not merely about combat; it is about building resilience, confidence, and a sense of belonging.

The journey continues, and I am ready for what lies ahead.
